Chief Beat Stony ...
You just don't travel to Long Island to face the SeaWolves of Stonybrook and expect to walk away whole. It's a tough gym to play in with 4500 rabid SeaWolves in teh back-drop. You bet, it's always tough to win basket ball games in March, period. Add the frenzy of tourney - time and being on the road in another time zone on short notice - BAM! That smells like upset. Like dust in your beer. It just isn't pleasant. But you'll stick suck it up and drink it down.
Illinois isn't your average snubbed NCAA tourney team. Nobody should close the door on the Chief and expect him to walk away quietly. He's likely to open - up a can of tomahawk on your pasty little ass. The CHIEF isn't bitter about missing out on March Madness. He's a #1 seed in the NIT looking to make it to the ELITE 8 with a win on Monday over Kent State at home.
This is a great opportunity for the diapered Illini. We bring everybody back in 2010/2011. The young ones (Paul / Richardson) are starting to walk. By next year I expect them to be in full gallup come BIG-10 regular season. McCamey, Davis, and Tisdale will all be seniors. Yes, the Chief is looking for big things in 2010/2011. And it all starts with NIT tourney experience we're getting right now.

Selection Sunday 2k10
Well it's here. Finally, Selection Sunday. After a tough finish to the regular season, the CHIEF put together a few nice games at the Big TEN Tourney in beating a stout Wisconsin crew and giving one of the best teams in the country (Ohio State) all it could hand in a 2OT loss on Saturday. It took the best game of the year from the best player in the country (ET) to down Illinois in a back and forth affair where we had our chances to close the deal. So, we finish the 2k9/2k10 campaign at 19-14 with some great wins (Michigan State, Wisky 2x, Vandy, & Clemson) and some unexplainable losses (UTAH and Bradley the most obvious). Oh, and on the outside and looking in on the BIG DANCE. Ugh! Go to the NIT and win it. We're now building for 2k10/11.
